FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Q. How does couple therapy work?
A. In couple’s therapy I meet initially with each partner individually for 1.5 hours and then begin meeting with the couple together usually either weekly or bi-monthly until the couple is reaching their goals, at which time we evaluate scheduling plans for further sessions. The initial individual sessions are to see what each person brings to the relationship and make the joint sessions for effective.
2. Q. How does parenting coordination or family therapy work?
A. Parenting coordination (link to article) and family therapy work similarly. As in couple therapy, I meet individually with each parent for 1.5 hours before seeing them together or possibly seeing the children. I am more likely to see the children in family therapy; however I do meet with children in parenting coordination in some situations. When I see children individually the sessions are between 30 minutes to an hour depending on the age of the child.
Once I have meet with each parent and any child, I then meet with the parents together in parenting coordination or in most cases the entire family in family therapy. When indicated, a meeting may be set with a child and either or both parents.
3. Q. Do you accept insurance?
A. No, I only accept cash, check, Visa, or Master Card.
4. Q. What is the amount of your fees?
My fees vary: I currently charge as follows:
- $85 per hour for most therapy including Resonance Repatterning
- $100 per therapy hour when clients want me available to testify in court
- $100 per hour for parenting coordination
- $150 per hour for parenting facilitation (brought into law in September of 2009)
5. Q. Do you ask for a retainer?
A. I ask for a retainer in parenting coordination and/or parenting facilitation cases, and collaborative divorces (Link to article). I also ask for a retainer in some cases in which I am going to be asked to testify in court.
6. Q. Do you allow for a sliding scale?
A. Rarely; however if a client has been coming for a while, has been reliable by showing up for appointments and paid their fees, I will consider a sliding scale temporarily if they have severe financial strife.
7. Q. What is Resonance Repatterning?
